About

Scott Matson

I’m a drummer and author, and Assistant Pastor of Mission at Jacksonville Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, OR. I study foreign and biblical languages, love to travel, and have been playing the drums for twenty-nine years.

A two-week music tour to England in 2013 awakened my love for the U.K. and Europe and for the history surrounding the Church. I began reading and studying extensively and the following year got the opportunity to begin overseeing the ministry of our former church's radio station and teaching Church history. A couple trips to England and Europe later and I’m more excited than ever about what God has done in the past and how that affects the Church today!

I am a graduate of Multnomah Biblical Seminary with a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies, with aspirations to (someday) pursue a Ph.D. I recently completed the process to become an ordained pastor in our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

And of course I’m always drumming, both in church and on session recordings for various projects. Additionally, my podcast Centuries and Saints has my teachings and sermons and I was formerly the Protestant voice of the Ecumenical Dialogue Podcast, where I and two friends (one Eastern Orthodox and the other Roman Catholic) discussed similarities and differences between our respective Christian traditions.

My wife Meridith and I (check out her blog!) have been married for close to five years and live in Medford, OR. She is AMAZING! Married life is such a joy and a couple years ago we welcomed our first child.
